2009 DEMO REEL --> To the Right

Hey Hey, I just finished slapping together a short little demo reel from this years work. It's pretty short, but in talks with my good friend Ian Jones Quartey, he told me something valuable. He said it's better to show 10 seconds of good material then to have a 2 and a half minute long demo full of nonsense and throwaway material. Very very true, and unfortunately I am very very guilty of that on my last demo. It was made to only fit the song I chose (red flag), and full of stuff that probably just didn't need to be shown, or the individual segments just dragged out for to long. So, my last demo reel i'll just chalk up to being a young excited animator, desperately wanting people to like my stuff. I still hope people like my stuff, I just hope i've grown out of the desperate part. This one hopefully just gets the point across that i can animate, and hopefully well enough that you'll hire me one day. So there you have it...oh wait no you don't, because your gonna have to go to my vimeo page to see it. I've created a new link to my vimeo, under links on the right side, it's the first one. I don't know, I just feel awkward about showing animated characters that are heavily trademarked on my blog. You know i'm sick and tired of these stupid T Shirt's I see people wearing...Virigna's for Lovers, New Jersey only the strong survive, you know what, go fuck yourself asshole if your wearing one of those, i've got no use for ya. In the words of Karl Pilkington " 'm fed up". So, even tho this goes against my better judgement because I hate Ironic T Shirts, I decided I'm gonna make this shirt. Email me if you want it.

Here's one of the shot's I envisioned in my head as I was coming up with the first installment of manCHILD. It's basically the same style as the Charter Spots, but I just had to get the idea down. Now that I got it, I wanna start messing with it. Thought it came old cool tho.

manCHILD Facial Expressions

So I talked to my good friend, Mr. Danny Hynes this morning... a character designer for The Venture Bros. on Cartoon Network, and I asked him for some of his character design advice in dealing with manCHILD. He thought it was cool, but if he had any suggestions just to pull the facial features together a little more. So this morning I did that, and just drew some faces I thought would show a range of expression. I've actually broken one of my rules here (manCHILD shall never frown), but for these purposes I think its fine. Hope they look cool...manCHILD.

Charter Cable Services

Hey, since other Charter Animated Spots have made their way onto the Internet, I figured I'd make my contribution as well. This was the spot I worked on from start to finish... it's an early version of the commercial which explains some cropping issues as well as other things, but all in all, it's the basic spot. I had a really fun time designing the Backgrounds and characters. I hope you enjoy watching it.

Charter

Hello to anyone who comes here. I haven't posted anything in a while, I was working on this series of spots for Charter Cable Service. If your from New York chances are you have no idea what that is, I know I didn't. Anyway me and the guys all worked on these commercials, I'm happy the way they came out. I had a hand in designing the Backgrounds to some extent. All the guys worked on their own spots, but in the end my design for the BG of Bird they thought fit the look they were going for. So, I basically was asked to just put my spin on their work, so yes to some extent their not mine but I still thought they were worth posting. I send out a big congrats to Mike Carlo, Danny Hynes, Ian J, Elliot Cowan and the one and only KANO for making it through this one. Congrats and Catch ya Later.

Hey, i did this today after work really quick. Can't waste too much time when i'm on the clock, but this was after hours...so i'm in the clear. I just wanted to do a nice kickflip. I'll eventually clean this thing up and post it for a real, but for today i think it came out pretty good. Go out and skate.

FLASH!

Ahhhh FLash you Villain...I just started up this job doing Layout. Normally I'm the guy just getting the drawing and animating but now I'm laying it out so it was just a little bit of a struggle to get in a groove. I think I got the hang of it tho, and now I'm doing okay. This is what I wanted to do to the computer screen tho, but of course i was out of ridiculous giant pencils.

Just been really crazy past couple of weeks, but since I moved out of my apartment, my neighbors Patrick and Jill took my old room, and as a room warming gift I painted a picture of their pup Murphy. Some More Work from Work

Here is some stuff that i meant to post a while ago but never got around to. First off is the Titanic dancing. This was just a joke Yuri (yurifain.blogspot.com), Danny (dannyhynes.blogspot.com, and Ian (ian-j.blogspot.com) all were kicking around at work one day. We thought it'd be funny to see the titanic roll up to a hot New York night club and party the night away dancing to some Daft Punk. The second One is a continue for those bad ass characters i was animating for a commerical. I like this guy, his suit is awesome. Poor poor henchman tho, they never get any respect.

Isn't it Obvious?

Wow, my how the time flys. Certainly when your having as much fun as I am. A couple of cool things have happened for me. One, i finally got my Cintiq, it's really awesome, all i do is sit in my room and draw on it now, so thats always cool. Then, getting the Cintiq inspired me to start upgrading my G5, it had been a while so I did all this ish and now i'm cooking with gas. Currently i'm working on this cool project for WLE. It's like this cell phone commerical inspired by Super Friends, It's really cool and i'm getting to work with my friends on it, and best of all is all traditional animation! Word up, it is a mighty fine day. The spots are coming out really cool, Yuri and Art and Chris are all doing awesome work. It keeps us all extra busy so there is my excuse for no posting in a while. But non the less, since i'm at home, with the cintiq i figured I'd finish a sketch i did at work today, Here it is. Hope it looks cool.

Bring Da Ruckus

This was a piece of Animation I did while inbetween jobs, at World Leadrers Entertainment. It's all completely Flash with some After Effects Magic provided by Mr. Mike Foran. I had a lot of fun working on this piece and this character...I hope to do more shorts like this as well as work with this character again...it was just a lot of fun. Hope you like it.

This is a concept drawing for the guys in Paragraph. Hopefully we'll make some headway with the designs, and maybe possibly make a video...Hmmm should be great. Don't Always Follow A Drunk Pirate Down A Pier...He Probably Has No Idea Where He's Going.

I just thought it would really funny to see how the night ends for most pirates. Like, you always see them fighting and drinking in town...yea that's all fun and good...but what happens when they have to go home? The ship is there home...they gotta go down a dark dark peir, walk all the way out on the dock, and if there lucky, they don't end up in the drink.

I'm Back!

Well I just checked my blogger records and it seems that the last post I put up was April 1st or something...so I figured it was about damn time I put something up. This was a concept idea that I was working on for a short I am currently in production on. I wanted to pay tribute to the UPA style, so basically I just ripped it off. It was a lot of fun tho, and it's a gorgeous style so i'm just pleased with the way it turned out. The show in the end probably wont look like this, but it should have. If there was more work out there like this I think we'd all be a lot more pleased. More to come soon.
